Nissan’s eco-drive support system, Eco-mode function and Navigation-linked speed control, employed in Nissan’s compact vehicles has won the ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director-General’s award in the 20th annual Energy Conservation Prize. Nissan’s eco-drive support system, Eco-mode function and Navigation-linked speed control, is a practical system which enables eco-drive at a relatively low cost and is recognized as a system which is expected to contribute to considerable energy conservation by employing it in a wider range of vehicles in the future.

Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid is the first Toyota to be propelled by a lithium-ion battery.
Toyota announced the introduction of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid, a plug-in version of the third-generation Prius gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, into key markets. Approximately 600 units will be introduced in Japan, the United States, and Europe over the first half of 2010, for use by governments and businesses. The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid can be charged using an external power source such as a household electric outlet, and is the first vehicle produced by Toyota to be propelled by a lithium-ion battery.

Nissan announces latest version of the Nissan GT-R
Nissan announced the release of the latest version of the Nissan GT-R, which goes on sale on December 7th at Nissan dealers nationwide in Japan. The updated GT-R receives a number of enhancements, including a revised navigation system, recalibrated suspension settings and an improved-flow catalyst system. It is scheduled to go on sale in other global markets beginning next spring. The latest revisions to GT-R include a new HDD-based CARWINGS navigation system with enhanced entertainment functions. A USB port with iPod connectivity allows the driver and passengers to enjoy their favorite music in the car, creating an even more pleasant interior environment.

Nissan announced the release of the new Fairlady Z Roadster, which goes on sale at Nissan dealers in Japan. In addition, the Fairlady Z Coupe receives minor new model enhancements and a new Fairlady Z 40th Anniversary” model, which marks the first four decades of the popular Nissan sports car, joins the lineup.

British-built Honda Civic Type R
British-built Honda Civic Type R will be exported to Japan
The British-built Civic Type R will be exported to Japan from next year. The acclaimed 3-door hot hatch, manufactured at Honda’s factory in Swindon, England, is to be shipped to Japan where it will go on sale during 2010. The model will be called the Type R EURO, to distinguish it from the Japanese-market 4-door Civic Type R saloon, and will be sold in limited numbers.
