Sony announced that retail sales of its new PlayStation3 (PS3) computer entertainment system achieved a total of 1 million units worldwide in the 3 weeks since its launch on September 1, 2009. The reductions of power consumption and fan noise as well as the appearance have also become drivers in attracting a larger and broader range of users. New slimmer PlayStation 3 with 120GB HDD to hit market this September
Sony today unveiled the new PlayStation 3 (CECH-2000A) (body color: charcoal black) computer entertainment system, featuring an extremely streamlined form factor with a 120GB Hard Disk Drive. The internal design architecture of the new PS3 system, from the main semiconductors and power supply unit to the cooling mechanism, has been completely redesigned, achieving a much slimmer and lighter body.

Microsoft sells 8 million more Xbox 360 consoles than Sony Playstation 3!
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console has sold over 28 million units worldwide, 8 million more than the Sony Playstation 3. Microsoft figures showed that its Xbox 360 outshined the Playstation 3 by one million units in Europe and by 7 million in the U.S. in sales volume. Microsoft Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft. Xbox 360 was developed in cooperation with IBM, ATI, and SiS.
