LG Unveils World’s Thinnest LCD TV Panel
LG Display has developed the world’s thinnest LCD TV panel measuring 2.6mm. The 42-inch panel weighs less than 4 kilograms — making it ideal for wall mounted TVs. Moreover, the new product offers 120Hz refresh rate technology with full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution for clear and sharp image. The development of extremely slim LCD panel was possible by applying the company’s accumulated “slimming” technologies including the use of an ultra-slim, edge-lit LED backlight system and proprietary optical film technology.

LG unveils two new ultra-slim full LED LCD TVs with enhanced wireless feature.
LG unveiled two new ultra-slim “full LED” LCD TVs in Seoul. The new 55-inch screens – models 55LH95 and 55LH93 respectively – lead the market in terms of picture quality, design and convenience. LG’s ambitious new product line offers a brighter and clearer screen than competing products thanks to backlighting that employs a total of 3,360 LEDs –- seven times more than existing edge-lit LED TVs. LG’s full LED LCD models also features a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio through enhanced dimming technology that divides the screen into 240 blocks. And with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, these TVs maintain a vibrant, smooth image even during fast-paced action scenes. LG’s newest ultra-slim full LED LCD TVs employ patented technology that helps keep the overall chassis thickness down to just 24.8mm.

Samsung 82-inch Ultra-Definition LCD TV
Samsung Electronics showcases the industry’s first 82-inch LCD TV panel with an ultra-definition (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate at the Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition. The UD resolution, also called as 4k X 2k, is a next generation ultra quality resolution that offers four times clear picture quality than Full HD (1920×1080). Realizing about 8M pixels, four times larger number of pixels than 200M pixels of the Full HD, UD is reported to have been implemented as the next generation broadcasting standard by Europe and Japan who are proactively implementing its format. A red/green/blue LED backlight has been added to raise true color saturation to 150 percent, based on the NISC standard of 100 percent.
